Red5 Pro is a live streaming server you run yourself, with MoQ Transport support for sub-250 ms latency streaming. Built on QUIC and WebTransport, its MoQ implementation includes native security, multiplexing, and connection migration for mobile resilience.
MoQ officially launched on Red5 Pro on 23 April 2026, and you pair it with any MoQ-capable CDN. If you would rather not operate it, the managed equivalent is Red5 Cloud, which runs on CacheFly’s CDN.
Red5 is also the developer of the Playa modular MoQ player template, developed under the OpenMOQ Software Consortium.
What the plugin actually is
Red5’s own description is worth quoting precisely, because it settles a question the ecosystem is increasingly confused about: the MOQ plugin integrates a full MoQ Transport relay server into Red5 Pro, adding QUIC-based streaming alongside the existing protocol stack.
That is moq-transport — the IETF track — not moq-lite. Red5 is on the standards-track wire protocol, which is why this entry carries draft tags where several other commercial MoQ products carry none.
Deployment targets are unusually broad: on-premises, closed networks and air-gapped environments, public or private cloud, and hybrid. The air-gapped case is a genuine differentiator — it is not reachable by any hosted MoQ offering, and it is where Red5’s government and surveillance business lives.

Red5 is building the layers themselves — transport libraries, relay infrastructure, and playback — rather than assembling third-party pieces, and is working with Osprey Video, Videon, and Amino on hardware MoQ encoding.
